In the movie, we see Moana wrestle between her duty as the daughter of the village chief who has to stay in the island and her inner calling to sail deep into the ocean. With her grandmother’s guidance Moana is able to understand how to harmoniously bridge these two seemingly opposing worlds. 

The movie brings out interesting themes about inner calling and societal expectations which is a journey we all have to navigate wisely.
